Free Online Habitat Survey Tool for BNG
Who it's for
- BNG – A survey of priority and designated sites is needed in the Biodiversity Net Gain planning process.
- Small Sites – Anyone completing the small sites metric needs to show the survey information of nearby protected sites.
- Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan – all large developments and habitat providers need to show which priority habitats are on or near their site.
What our tool does
- The Biodiversity Survey tool scans the development area and the neighbouring areas for protected sites - priority habitats and designated sites.
- It will automatically populate the relevant bng documents with this information for you and provide you with the sources and Nature England Id's of habitats which are on or near your site.
- You'll also be given a map showing where the protected sites are relative to your land
How the tool works
- The tool scans through Nature England's priority habitat and designated sites registers and displays any which are on or near your site.
- It finds the sources and Id's of each of these habitats and gives you all of this information for free.
- It's used in conjunction with our Biodiversity Net Gain Calculator Tool to pre populate this information into the bng metric.
